Handmade collar with finest French/Italian leather
Viaromana difference
Material
I only use 100% Genuine French/Italian goat leather.
Same leather used by high-end leather brands such as France’s ‘H’ brand.
It is soft and flexible yet tough.
Goat leather is more water and stain repellent than most lesser quality cow leather.
French ‘Chevre’ and Italian ‘Alan’ vegetable tanned goat leather has finely grained surface with beautiful color.
Attention to detail
Sandwiched between two layers of leather. There are additional three hidden layers of tough reinforcement fabric. Making it soft yet near impossible to tear.
All edges are sewn to prevent leather edge seperation, then coated with five layers of protective paint by hand.
One man one collar.
No mass production.
I start from a selected piece of leather.
Cutting, gluing, painting, sawing, buffing, then painting again.
100% handmade by one man
from start to finish.
About me:
I majored in Fine art in Chicago, then was in family leather/bag business for some years.
I became more interested in leather and bag making, so I decided studied in Scuola del cuoio in Firenze.
While studying to be a bag maker, I made first leather collar for my dog ‘Uzie’, and that’s how it humbly began.
Now days, aside from making dog collars, I’ve been making custom handbags for over decade and I also teach bag-making to my students.
‘Viaromana’ is a street that crosses Fonte Vecchio toward Palazzo Pitti in Firenze. Next to Boboli garden where I, my wife, and my dog used to live together.
